What does EMC mean?
Equilibrium moisture content is the moisture level wood tends toward when exposed to stable surrounding air conditions over time. It is an estimate, not a measurement of the wood's current moisture content.
Changes in humidity generally have a strong effect on EMC. Wood species, thickness, finish, and airflow affect how quickly the wood approaches equilibrium.
