Flat Stanley's Travel Log | ||
Before leaving, Flat Stanley had a chance to write his travel log: 9/28/10 through 10/2/10 I’m in High Point, North Carolina visiting with Connor’s Uncle Brian, Aunt Melissa, and cousins, Nathan and Porter. Nathan is the same age as Connor. He is in the third grade at Shadybrook Elementary. Porter is four years old. So, he will start school next year. Brian and Melissa also have a dog named Puddy. He is a big sweet dog. At night he likes to curl up on the couch. 10/3/10 through 10/10/10 Brian, Melissa and their boys have lived in High Point for six years. They live in a neighborhood near Oak Hollow Lake. Oak Hollow Lake has several parks around it and a marina and also is the source of the city’s primary water supply. The official slogan for the city is “North Carolina’s International City” which was adopted in 2005. High Point is most well known for its furniture industry. Twice a year High Point hosts the International Furniture Market which attracts nearly 150,000 visitors from around the world. The Furniture Market is a very important part of the city’s economy. It is ironic because Brian is a woodworking hobbyist. He has made a lot of furniture in their house and for family members. 10/11/10 through 10/18/10 10/19/10 through 10/26/10 10/27/10 through 11/7/10 11/8/10 through 11/17/10 11/18/10 through 11/30/10 I had a nice visit with Connor’s family. I enjoyed hanging out with them, going places with them and learning about the area they live in! Thanks for a good time! |
